March Radness Recap

This past Saturday we hosted the very first contest, called March Radness, over at the new Kennesaw Skatepark. We had no clue what to expect. We were just hoping for the best and biggest to turn out. I must say it was everything we were wanting and more! People of all age groups were there. Dads competing. Girls competing. Young and old bucks blasting huge airs. Moms and grandmas watching. And, the Vans Tour bus with Tony Alva rolled through. It was great.  Doing raffles throughout the day to keep families entertained. Multiple photographers and videographers covering the event. We really couldn’t ask for much more. After that, it was all up to the skating for the rest of the action, which I was able to get plenty of photos of for you guys to check out. Huge thanks to all the sponsors and people that helped make this contest bad ass! Read More >

What are you up to today?

One of those days…. so I’m in Beach Mode

You’ve recently relocated to Long Beach, how did that all come about?

Well, it started as a lil 2 week skatecation to get away from the shitty weather we’ve been having back in ATL.  Then right when I got out here a room opened up at the homie’s crib, and couldn’t really pass up the opportunity. So now I’m just out here livin it!  I’ll be back in the A sooner than later!

How you diggin it out there, miss back home at all?

First off I miss the fuck out of Atlanta and the squad! Theres no place like it. The west is cool though. We got some ATLIENS out here too! Plus perfect skate weather everyday, so its all good!

Always, this hustle don’t stop! But yea I got some stuff in the works. Just been skating as much as possible.  I’m sure we’ll drop a Zoo York project again this year. I got some shit coming out in the GOLDGOONS video which we should be wrappin up soon. And of course the SECxFU video..gotta get some shit in the homie video! Read More >

65 Degrees and Sunny

In my opinion, there is only one thing to do on a perfect weather day. That is go skate. Cool, blue skies, a light breeze and fresh Georgia air got me out of the house real quick. I rounded up a couple of the Ambush boys Wes and Zeke as well as the good homies Dakota Plumley and Brenden Lagna. We all met up at the new Kennesaw Skatepark to start a sweet day of shredding. We put in a solid 5 hours of non stop skating. Here is a little montage to show what we got!

R.I.P. Black Diamond Skatepark

In 2001, Discover Mills Mall was lucky to be blessed with an amazing skatepark designed by the one and only Camp Woodward. At the time is was named Woodward Skatepark. It had everything every skater dreamed of. It had handrails, kinked handrails, a foam pit, spines, vert ramp, mini mega ramp, euro gaps, and ledges of all sizes. Although it was such an amazing place, they struggled to stay open. The skatepark closed three times for months on end, collecting dust until someone stepped in to open it back up. It went from Woodward Skatepark to X Games Skatepark to United Skatepark, and it’s last label, Black Diamond Skatepark. About 2 months ago we heard rumor it was closing down for good. I didn’t believe it until I saw pictures of them actually taking the ramps apart. It was home to many amazing skaters like Travis Glover, Jordan Lucas, Warren Devarennes, and Anthony Dodaro. Those guys would probably not be where they are today if it wasn’t for that park opening. It’s always a bummer seeing a skatepark close. I was lucky enough to get out with some of the Ambush guys for one last shred! Here’s what we got. R.I.P. 2001-2014. Read More >

March Radness is Coming!

What’s up everyone? Ambush is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first contest at the new Kennesaw Skatepark called March Radness. No mushy flat ground game of skate. This is REAL street/pool style skateboarding for your eyes to see. This is your chance to show Ambush what you got and show the City of Kennesaw why it was such a good idea building this park. Don’t wanna compete? It’s free to watch and come hang out with the Ambush crew. There will be tons of talented locals putting on a awesome show!  Big thanks to all the sponsors that help contribute to making this contest happen!

Check out the trailer to see just a glimpse of the action that will be going down!

Top 5 Smoke Shows that Can Ride Better than You

In the past several years, women have made a huge impact on Action Sports.   My favorite part of the impact they’ve made…how sexy they make riding a board.  I’m going to keep this short and sweet.   Here are my top 5 smoke shows that can ride better than you.

5. Jamie Anderson – Pro Snowboarder

Jamie Anderson just came off with the biggest win of her career.   She won the first-ever Women’s Slopestyle at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.   She has had a solid resume of podium finishes throughout her career.   She can do handstands in bikinis, as well…that deserves a gold.

Jamie Anderson can melt you with her smile.

Ambush Mini Riot Presented by Red Bull – Full Recap

Screen Shot 2014-01-27 at 12.52.40 PMPeak retail season is over. The hard work is done and Mazza Mondays are back in full force. There is no better way to start off 2014 than with an awesome mini ramp contest! Early morning yawns and 30 degree weather aren’t enough to stop skateboarders from coming out to compete for $500 bucks! Huge thanks to Red Bull for putting the contest together and Jonah Owings from Hazard County Skatepark  for constructing a flawless mini ramp!

This is how the contest worked: two divisions (Cruisers and Shredders), 32 skaters in each division, 4 man heats with each rider getting two 45 second runs, and the best one advances. Second place winners earned $250 cash and first place winners earned $500 cash! People from all over came out to compete for that big purse money. Huge thanks to all the people and companies that came out to support the contest. This was probably one of my favorite contests that was have hosted so far. Well that’s enough rambling from me. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking! Read More >
