Skateboarding has had a long and lusty love affair with art. If you want to get hippy with it, skateboarding can be construed as analogous to a type of performance art where the skateboarder is the artist, the skateboard is the tool, and the streets are the canvas. All abstract mumbo jumbo aside, skateboarding and art just go together. We celebrate board graphics, have a deep respect for filmers and photographers, and basically can’t function without music. And, many skateboarders are accomplished artists, filmmakers, musicians, graphics designers, illustrators, chefs, and more. Skateboarding and art are so closely aligned culturally that they have essentially morphed into two distinct subcultures of a larger, broader lifestyle. The OuterSpace Project is Greg Mike‘s full embodiment of this concept.
Go Skateboarding Day 2014
As everyone knows, June 21st is National Go Skateboarding Day. We at Ambush wanted to make sure that this day gets the proper recognition it deserves. And, we wanted to give all skateboarders a day of enjoyment. So, the Ambush crew headed up to Kennesaw Skatepark. Video game booths, misting stations, pizza, and the RedBull MTX truck were just some of the things providing the entertainment that day. Prizes were given out for best tricks and random skateboard trivia questions that were answered. Well, I don’t wanna bore everyone with words, so here is a little montage that recapped the whole day! If you missed it this year well we look forward to seeing you next year!

VIDEO RECAP:
Ambush Mini Riot Presented by Red Bull – Full Recap

This is how the contest worked: two divisions (Cruisers and Shredders), 32 skaters in each division, 4 man heats with each rider getting two 45 second runs, and the best one advances. Second place winners earned $250 cash and first place winners earned $500 cash! People from all over came out to compete for that big purse money. Huge thanks to all the people and companies that came out to support the contest. This was probably one of my favorite contests that was have hosted so far. Well that’s enough rambling from me. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking!
Big congrats to the Cruisers Division winners Matt Hudson (1st) and Chris Colmenero (2nd) and the Shredders Division winners Gage Gum (1st) and Trey Abad a.k.a. CatNip (2nd).

Jeremiah Babb, Anthony Hall, and Jordan Smith.

Go Skateboarding Day 2013
Skateboarding is going off everywhere in 2013, and Go Skateboarding Day here at Ambush was no different. Stormy was heatin’ it up on the grill, Space Orphan had ripping tunes, and everyone was killing it on the ramps and rails in the parking lot. It’s pretty rad to see everyone progressing more and more each year. Let’s keep it going kids don’t blow it. Big thanks to all of our sponsors for holding us down as always; The Kayo Corp, Sector 9, Redbull Atl, Bender Hardware, Element, and Low Card Mag. We couldn’t do it with out you. Check the video above for some high lights from the session. Remember, everyday is Go Skateboarding Day, so go out there and get some!
Go Skateboarding Day!!
Well as we all know June 21st is national Go Skateboarding Day, a day where skateboarders come together as one and skate our asses off from morning throughout the night.

June 21
Over here at Ambush, we setup a fun little event. We had the legend Stormy Pruett whipping up the hot dogs and hamburgers, a bunch of flat bars, ledges, and ramps in the parking lot, free Red Bulls to keep the kids pushing all day long, Space Orphan playing live music, and a high ollie contest. Ambush’s very own Josh Butler took the high ollie contest. I’m not sure how high it was but it was high! lol

We also had the new Sk8Mafia video playing all day in the shop. All I have to say is WOW. This video is amazing. The skating is awesome. There are definitely multiple tricks in this video that I have never seen done before and they are all done with style! There have been a lot of videos that have dropped this year and this is gonna have to be my 2nd favorite right behind The DeathWish Video! Make sure to come out to the premiere at Jack’s Pizza on June 26th.

This concludes Mazza Mondays! Hope everyone is having a awesome summer! Enjoy the hot weather while you can because before you know it, its over! This ain’t California. We got winters here!
