This past Friday was the Element No Board Left Behind event here at Ambush Board Co. If you had an old deck laying around the house, Element was kind enough to bring all there supplies to cut it into a cruiser shape for FREE! Also if you bought an Element deck the day of the event you, received free cruiser wheels and trucks courtesy of Element! Pretty sick deal if you ask me. Sorry for those who missed out.
On the scene hanging out were Element pros Levi Brown and Evan Smith. Big thanks to them for coming to hang out. They are some chill dudes! The Legend himself Donny Barley was on hand as well cutting your boards personally just for you! He did an awesome job. Big thanks to Andy Dicker for providing the entertainment while everyone was getting there decks hooked up! Huge thanks to Element and everyone who came out to get there boards cut. Looking forward to seeing everyone in the future.
Piedmont Park will play host to the Red Bull Illume each night from March 20th – 30th from sundown through 11PM. You can catch some world class photos from some of Red Bull’s finest photographers. All of the photos are in big light boxes that are glowing throughout the park. During the opening event, Red Bull skydivers parachuted out of a plane and as soon as they landed all the light boxes lit up. I was able to make it out on opening night to capture the Ambush team riders skating the mini ramp and putting on a show on for the crowd. During their session, some of the Red Bull photographers shot some ill photos with them. After all the madness of skydiving and skateboarding, the Ambush Crew was able to get in the VIP party where all drinks and food were on Red Bull! It was pretty dang sweet. That pretty much sums up the whole night! Here are the photos of what I saw. And, Max made a sick edit of the night too.
This past Saturday we hosted the very first contest, called March Radness, over at the new Kennesaw Skatepark. We had no clue what to expect. We were just hoping for the best and biggest to turn out. I must say it was everything we were wanting and more! People of all age groups were there. Dads competing. Girls competing. Young and old bucks blasting huge airs. Moms and grandmas watching. And, the Vans Tour bus with Tony Alva rolled through. It was great. Doing raffles throughout the day to keep families entertained. Multiple photographers and videographers covering the event. We really couldn’t ask for much more. After that, it was all up to the skating for the rest of the action, which I was able to get plenty of photos of for you guys to check out. Huge thanks to all the sponsors and people that helped make this contest bad ass!
What’s up everyone? Ambush is proud to announce that it will be hosting the first contest at the new Kennesaw Skatepark called March Radness. No mushy flat ground game of skate. This is REAL street/pool style skateboarding for your eyes to see. This is your chance to show Ambush what you got and show the City of Kennesaw why it was such a good idea building this park. Don’t wanna compete? It’s free to watch and come hang out with the Ambush crew. There will be tons of talented locals putting on a awesome show! Big thanks to all the sponsors that help contribute to making this contest happen!
Check out the trailer to see just a glimpse of the action that will be going down!
Peak retail season is over. The hard work is done and Mazza Mondays are back in full force. There is no better way to start off 2014 than with an awesome mini ramp contest! Early morning yawns and 30 degree weather aren’t enough to stop skateboarders from coming out to compete for $500 bucks! Huge thanks to Red Bull for putting the contest together and Jonah Owings from Hazard County Skatepark for constructing a flawless mini ramp!
This is how the contest worked: two divisions (Cruisers and Shredders), 32 skaters in each division, 4 man heats with each rider getting two 45 second runs, and the best one advances. Second place winners earned $250 cash and first place winners earned $500 cash! People from all over came out to compete for that big purse money. Huge thanks to all the people and companies that came out to support the contest. This was probably one of my favorite contests that was have hosted so far. Well that’s enough rambling from me. I’ll let the photos do the rest of the talking!
On this week’s installment of Memory Lane, we’re taking a look back with our very own Stormy Pruett. Get a behind the scenes look at what went down while filming for 2006’s “The Ambush Video”, filmed and edited by Ill Nasty.

Rarely in life do you meet someone who is exactly the same on the outside as they are on the inside. It’s not often that you come across an individual who acts the same in front of people as they do when no one is around. Or have your back when shit is on the line. Or live above the fray. It’s rare to find someone who is as good of a friend or better to you than you are to them. And IF you ever find that special person, consider yourself mighty lucky you are able to share 10 years with them.
This month marks Stormy‘s tenth year at Ambush. Throughout that time, Ambush and Stormy have grown together, evolved together and become synonymous with one another. So, how do you reward that kind of extended passion and loyalty? Forget the golden watch, its all about skateboarding, baby.
Here’s to another Mazza Monday.
A lot of fishing has been going on this summer. You can catch me on the water with Josh, Charlie, CatNip, and Max. We have been cranking them in. Fake worms, spinner baits, jigs, crank baits all seem to be working good. It’s summer time so the fish are destroying the top water baits, buzz baits, Pop R’s. Weightless worms are my favorite lures as of now. Ok, enough of the fishing BS.
Not only has the summer brought a bunch of fishing, it as well has brought a bunch of good skating! Even in this heat, we are out there all day long sweating our asses off ’til the sun goes down. This summer has been awesome! Catfish, Largemouth Bass, Kickflips, Back Tails, Back Smiths, beers, the beach, and friends. I can’t ask for anything better.
Well as we all know June 21st is national Go Skateboarding Day, a day where skateboarders come together as one and skate our asses off from morning throughout the night.
Over here at Ambush, we setup a fun little event. We had the legend Stormy Pruett whipping up the hot dogs and hamburgers, a bunch of flat bars, ledges, and ramps in the parking lot, free Red Bulls to keep the kids pushing all day long, Space Orphan playing live music, and a high ollie contest. Ambush’s very own Josh Butler took the high ollie contest. I’m not sure how high it was but it was high! lol
We also had the new Sk8Mafia video playing all day in the shop. All I have to say is WOW. This video is amazing. The skating is awesome. There are definitely multiple tricks in this video that I have never seen done before and they are all done with style! There have been a lot of videos that have dropped this year and this is gonna have to be my 2nd favorite right behind The DeathWish Video! Make sure to come out to the premiere at Jack’s Pizza on June 26th.
